“The other more affectionate ones are Shanouk expressing his desire for a close cheek to cheek waltz with his master, whom he loves to protect savagely. Told you he was big.. er.. bigger than me on his hind. And even beyond if he were to stretch his front legs.

“Prakash ji’s eldest son Sumeet returned from USA this morning and the cremation took place by the afternoon. Abhishek and I attended it, but the behavior of the electronic media at the crematorium was just disgusting. No respect shown for the sensitivity of the occasion. No regard for the moment and no ethics at all in maintaining some decorum for this very private and sombre ritual. All they were interested in was in getting that ‘bite’ or shoving their cameras inches away from your nose, at a moment when one desired peace and quiet. Shameful.

"But what of some of the mourners, if they can be called that! They were no less. Pushing and shoving to get a position behind or near about the celebrity, so the cameras can catch them.

Abhishek And Sexy Aishwarya Travel Like Crazy. It’s been a time of incredible traveling and stock -taking for Bollywood’s golden couple who are now in Cannes.

But believe it or not, just a few days earlier they were in Bhopal, visiting Mrs Jaya Bachchan’s mother who lives in the city.

Says a source, “It was a flash visit last week. Abhishek and Aishwarya had never visited his Naani together. They wanted to surprise her. They had a day off. So they just took off for the day. The Sen sisters Raima and Riya have been combining work with pleasure. The siblings took off for the Middle East recently on a short holiday coupled with an assignment. They travelled to Bahrain and Dubai.

Both are busy shooting for their films and outdoor shoots, leavings them with little time to be with each other. Here was an opportunity not to be missed. As the duo were travelling in the same region for work, they decided to provide each other company.Riya walked the ramp at the Bahrain Fashion Week in Manama with Raima cheering her from the audience. I AM IN MUMBAI , LAST ONE AND A HALF MONTHS WERE A SPIN FOR ME ... STILL LIFE IS SO BEAUTIFUL....
Was supposed to leave for shooting and 'coz of whatever reasons it kept getting delayed , it was meant to be , its been years since my elder sister and my nieces got together and that too for a month .... we all went through a bout of viral . got ok ... and then got on again ... i took my nieces one 9 and the other 4 years for swimming every evening . watcing animated films during the day and getting them to do their summer vacation homework ...
my parents too joined us for four days ,they have all left ... my husband got back from his work and has been here for a week and now leaving again , i am finally leaving to start the second schedule of my tamil film...the delay was meant to be and a great co incidence coz if i was working i would not get to spend this time with them

HERE I AM AGAIN IN MY ROOM SITTING AND WRITING THIS , EVERY NOW AND THEN TAKING A BREATHER TO LOOK UP AND OUTSIDE THE WINDOW .

I HAVE THE COCONUT TREES OUTSIDE swinging and dancing to the tune of breeze so beautifully that a well choreograped dance could be left behind . they are so in sync to the music of waves , ....... the sea practically has turned dark grey in colour looking beautiful and the clouds fill the sky ....

Aamir won't be doing any films for Next one Year

After a gloriously bravura and spectacularly successful performance in Ghajini, Aamir Khan has finally decided to do what he was planning for quite a while.

He has taken a full year off from acting and movies.

Aamir is wrapping up his work on the film before moving on to a year of relaxation and introspection.

Says one of his co-stars from the film, "Aamir has been talking about re-charging his batteries, giving himself that much-needed break. Ghajini and all the preparation has been specially exhausting both physically and emotionally. Aamir is the kind of actor who works purely for the love of cinema. And right now he needs to take a break."

A source close to Aamir spills the beans, "It's true Aamir is finally taking a year off after 3 Idiots is completed. Actually he was planning to do so last year after Taare Zameen Par where the double responsibility of directing and acting really sapped him.

But then he was coaxed into Ghajini and then began his physical re-orientation, the muscle-building and body-toning that really exhausted the method actor."It's time for a prolonged break.

Says the source, "Aamir is ready to take that long-pending break. Yes, he wont be doing any films for the next one year. And this time I've a feeling no power on earth will convince him to take up another offer until he's ready to return to acting by his own free will."

Gossip Asin declines to promote Vegetarianism

Ghajini” fame actress Asin Thottumkal has turned down animal welfare group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals’ (PETA) request to promote vegetarianism. She said she is a hardcore non-vegetarian and, therefore, it would be unfair to accept the offer.
“After I entered the film industry, I restricted my non-veg diet to fish and chicken. I can’t, however, remain without non-veg food even for a single day. Therefore, it won’t be proper for me to involve myself in the campaign against non-vegetarian food,” said Asin.

Kambakkht Ishq Grosses over Rs 46 cr Worldwide Eros

Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Kambakkht Ishq' has registered a stupendous opening grossing over Rs 46 crore at the box office in its opening weekend, Eros International, the film's co-producer and distributor has said.

The film, directed by debutante Sabbir Khan, with Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor in the lead roles has grossed over Rs 32 crore in India and Rs 14 crore overseas.

The film, released worldwide on July 3, also touched the number eight position in the UK following its release.

Speaking on the films performance, Nandu Ahuja, Executive Vice President, Distribution India, Eros International said, "Despite heavy rains, the film remained steady through the weekend all over and continues to show fabulous response today on day four as well. We are confident of the films performance in the weeks to come."

"In UK, the film secured a strong number eight position earning 3,00,000 pounds despite releasing along with big Hollywood films such as 'Ice Age 3' and 'Public Enemies'," Pranab Kapadia, President Distribution -- Europe and Africa, Eros International said.

The actress who has three releases back-to-back-Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey, Ashutosh Gowariker’s What’s Your Rashee? and Jugal Hansraj’s Pyaar Impossible is fashionably lean, but her health record sucks.

Though PC is on a high — having bagged ten awards in six months, she is also under strict diet restrictions from her mother, Dr Madhu Chopra. “I can’t eat anything except home-cooked meals,’’ says the actress who even carries her diet food to the five-star hotels she frequents, and seeks special permission to be allowed to eat her ‘MSM’ (mom-supervised meal.)

“My immune system has just gone a bit haywire,’’ she confesses. And, how did this happen? Well, Priyanka is playing 12 characters in What’s Your Rashee? and she was completely swamped with the amount of work she had put into these characters.

The actress has even studied that with the exception of one Hindi Flim actor in the silent era in 1920, who has played 16 characters — “then men also played women’s parts” — no other actor in world cinema has attempted 12 roles, she says.

Unlike Kamal Haasan in Dashaavatar (2008), where the actor did 10 roles or Sanjeev Kumar’s nine-role-epic Naya Din Nayi Raat (1974); Priyanka doesn’t even have prosthetics or any artificial aid to help her bring changes in the various characters.

“The only change—for the hip girl from Nairobi or the simple one from a village in Oonjha is a walk, a voice note or a subtle difference in the make-up,’’ she says.

While all of this is bound to look great on screen, shooting for it has proved very hard for the award-winner.

“I’m going to take sleeping pills and wake up after three days,’’ she confesses because her nerves are so fraught with the worry and the tension of the WYR shoot.

She is of course hoping that when the film releases, she wins accolades for it. “That will truly be my reward,’’ she smiles. “Believe me, I have put in my sweat, tears and blood into this film. It is the most difficult film in my career. No wonder my system packed up,’’ she adds.

Rakhi to wear Rs.3 mn Necklace on swayamvar D-day

A Rs.30 lakh (Rs. 3 million) necklace designed by Farah Ali Khan, a lehenga-choli wedding dress by celebrity designer Neeta Lulla, a 'swayamvar' on national television and a grand wedding to be watched by millions across the country. The former 'item girl', who has had a rags-to-riches career, will marry on NDTV Imagine's reality show "Rakhi Ka Swayamvar" soon. She will choose her "perfect man" from among nine grooms who have come from cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Rishikesh, Jaipur and Kanpur and even from places as far off as Toronto. National award winning designer Neeta Lulla, who is one of Aishwarya Rai's favourite designers, and ace jewellery designer Farah Khan Ali have been roped in to help Rakhi look her best on her D-day. And the two are doing every bit they can to fulfil the bride-to-be's wish to look like a "princess" that special day. "Rakhi told us she wants to look like a princess that day - something like she has never looked before. I have given her a very colourful ensemble - it's a very conservative outfit," Lulla told media over phone from Mumbai. "For her wedding day, Rakhi would be wearing a lehenga-choli in five different colours with ornate kundan work to give her an ethnic Rajasthani look," said Lulla, who has designed Aishwarya's clothes in movies like "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam", "Devdas" and more recently "Jodhaa Akbar". To complement her outfit, Rakhi will be donning traditional Indian jadau jewellery designed by Farah Ali Khan, the daughter of yesteryears actor Sanjay Khan and well-known interior designer Zarine Khan. "The choker that Rakhi will be wearing for her wedding day is very heavy. It looks very traditional and covers almost her entire neck," she said. According to Khan, the choker costs approximately Rs.3 million. However, Lulla has refused to divulge the price tag of her outfit. The two designers are not only putting their creative instincts together for Rakhi's wedding day but also for the sangeet and mehendi (pre-wedding) ceremonies. For the sangeet, Rakhi decided to opt for an Indo-Western look in blue. Lulla says it is a very contemporary outfit. To match the dress, Khan has given her an elaborate diamond neck piece, which also costs around Rs.3 million. If both the designers are to be believed, Rakhi was extremely "accomodating" to their suggestions but gave her inputs as well. "Rakhi told me that her earrings shouldn't be very heavy so that she can dance freely. She also said that I should design ornaments which don't break," said Khan. Raj Kumar Santoshi has decided to cast Shatrughan Sinha and wife Punam together in his next film.
36 years after the husband and wife appeared in their first and last film together Sabak they will face the camera together in Santoshi's next.

Past workSantoshi, currently in the process of completing his latest film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, met the couple and offered them the roles. Punam was an actress, several decades ago. Besides Sabak with her husband, she also acted in other successful films like Jigri Dost with Jeetendra before quitting the scene to marry Shotgun.

She made a comeback as Hrithik Roshan's mother in Jodhaa-Akbar. She says, "I had no intention of returning. But Ashutosh Gowariker insisted that he saw me in the role continuously as he wrote the script. Now I'd do a film only when something really special comes along."

The sexy siren has a popular Bollywood presence on Twitter via her page '@MallikaLA'. She is also apparently one of the most 'followed' Bollywood celebrities on Twitter with more than 2500 fans keen on knowing what the sexy actress is up to.

Mallika will be visiting the Twitter headquarters on July 14 where she'll greet her fans, tour the Twitter office and give inspirational remarks to Twitter employees during their lunch break. Mallika has been using Twitter to keep in touch with fans and document her experiences in Hollywood.

Sherawat, who since arriving in Hollywood has garnered awards, celebrity friends and even a Hollywood milkshake named after her, decided to join the Twittering class as a way to keep in touch with fans back home in India.

Bollywood actress-model Mallika Sherawat will act in a movie inspired by San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Devi Harris who is sometimes adoringly called ‘Female Barack Obama’, according to reports.

The New York Times sometimes back referred to Harris as one of the most likely women to become the first female President of the United States. Harris has also reportedly featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show as one of ‘America’s Most Powerful Women’. Her mother, born in India, was a breast cancer specialist doctor. And Boman, who has been waiting for years to work with the prolific director, is above the moon. "I think it's a great moment. Shyam Babu is such an engaging intellectual. He can laugh at life and still be serious about it. When he summoned me and I walked into his office he said the sweetest thing. 'I wanted to work with you for a long time.' We met again in Bangkok for the IIFA when he got the lifetime achievement award. I was hosting the show. After that he said, 'I finally have something that's right for you.' It 's wonderful to walk into a film that's meant for me.

The film takes Benegal back to his home town Hyderabad. Says Boman, "I play a guy from the city who visits his village in Andhra Pradesh. I play the central character. Minissha Lamba plays my daughter."

Boman is sorry his second film with Shabana, Sorry Bhai, didn't work. "It was released the day after 26/11. There were five people in the theatre. Who goes to the movies on the morning after a terror attack? Who gets to kiss Shabana twice in two films? I am dying to make it happen again this year."

Shabana did her first kissing scene with Boman in Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. "It was just a coincidence there was another one in Sorry Bhai. I hope it has something to do with me. Of course both the kisses were decent and aesthetic. Everyone is tickled because it's a triumph for the 50-plus age-group. We decided to do another film together on the last day we shot for Sorry Bhai. We love each other's company. There's so much to laugh and talk about. She wants us to work together as much as I do. She's at her relaxed best with me."

Boman had a slew of releases in 2008. "What happened was they all tumbled out after a long lull. I was in New York for the first screening of Sooni Taraporewala's Little Zizou when my first release this year Dostana came. Then came Maharathi, Yuvraaj, etc one after another. And I've several films lined up in 2009. Ravi Chopra's My Cousin Vinny (Banda Yeh Bindaas Hai) where I play the judge. The trick is to stay within character and yet be funny and entertaining. Raj Kumar Hirani's 3 Idiots is being readied. I don't play one of the title roles. Do I look like an idiot?" he guffaws.

"Initially I was hesitant about taking up this assignment. My role is similar to what I played in Raju Hirani's Munnabhai MBBS. They're both vice -chancellors. But Raju convinced me that the same profession doesn't make the two characters the same."

A source says, "Perfect Mismatch releases on July 24 and is targeted as a family entertainer. So the producers are doing everything to keep it that way. That's why they have edited the three kissing scenes between the lead couple."

Anubhav says, "Yes, Nandana and I did share few kissing scenes in the movie which have eventually been edited. We wanted the film to be a full-fledged family entertainer. So we decided not to keep the kissing scenes in the final cut."

The part Hindi part English movie also has Anupam Kher, Boman Irani in it and its plot revolves around the theme of inter-caste marriage.

We quizzed how she managed to do such a crucial and difficult role? Portraying an unwed teenage mother in the very first film is a big challenge for a novice.

Sheena shrugs, “Well, I think, an actor must be a good observer. Since childhood, I have the habit of observing everything that I come across. Actually, when my mother was expecting my brother, I would observe her minutely and would enquire about her feelings. I feel these minute incidents helped me perform the role efficiently. ”

Daughter of yesteryears actress Sadhna Singh of Nadiya Ke Uss Par fame; Sheena says it’s her family she looks up-to for support. Her on-screen family in Teree Sang is poles apart from her real life.

In the film, Sheena’s character is neglected, unloved; shedding importance on the strong family support, she says, “Maahi the character I play in Teree Sang goes through a lot in the film. Her pregnancy is a direct consequence of parental-negligence. Parents are the child’s backbone; their attention makes a huge difference. ”

Extremely level-headed and grounded, this girl knows what she has to do in life and follows a set of dos and don’ts to achieve her goal.

When we asked, whether she would expose if the script demands, she didn’t mince words, “My parents are the ultimate decision-makers. And this is a mutual understanding between me and them. If I am comfortable and my parents agree, then nothing on earth can hold me back. ”

Reflecting back she adds, “I think I have experienced something of this sort in my debut film. It was due to mutual understanding between me and parents that I agreed to kiss. I think exposing is something I will consider after assessing the demand of the script and its aesthetical presentation. ”

Definitely breaking the stereotypes in her debut film Teree Sang, Sheena is no fumbling rookie. She comes across as a girl who knows what she wants, and how to get it done. Confident and calm she looks forward to her unconventional debut in Bollywood. All we can say is way to go Sheena.

Says the debutant, "When Soham narrated the script, I did not even consider the bikini thing as a big deal it was logical to the premise. While shooting for it, the weather was very weird that day. It was freezing cold, but apart from that it was like any other scene in the film for me."

Informs Director Soham, "Shruti did work-out, to get a toned body. Moreover, she worked hard to maintain it. We shot the sequence in Cape Town. The temperature was only two degrees. She had to brave the icy weather for the shoot."

The director also mentions, "The scene involves Imran Khan, Ravi Kishaan and Mithun Chakraborthy. Shruti was not at all apprehensive of wearing a two-piece swim wear as she was aware of it from before. The scene is totally justified as Ravi Kishaan's character pins his eyes on her."

The styling is done by the director’s wife, Binal Shah who is a fashion designer. She says, "I bought a plain Bebe bikini that fitted Shruti perfectly. I then embellished it with mother of pearls in shades of green that matched the night pool ambience."

Another film that Hema is working on is 'Ek Thi Rani Aisi Bhi' - in which she will play a role based on the life of prominent political figure Vijayaraje Scindia.

Hema, who has delivered hits like 'Seeta Aur Geeta', 'Satte Pe Satta', and 'Sholay' in the past, is also toying with the idea of getting into production and returning to direction after almost 17 years.

'I'm planning to start production. I don't want to say much about it because every time I talk about these things, they never happen. It's my desire to make lovely films because I am an artist and a very creative person,' she said.

'But filmmaking is not a joke...so many things are involved,' she added.

The actress, who had her first stint with direction in 1992 with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Dil Aashna Hai', says she would want to be a liberal producer and not want to impose her ideas on the youth.

Even before her first film `Aladin` releases this Diwali, debutant actress Jacqueline Fernandez has caught the fancy of prominent directors like Siddharth Anand and Tarun Mansukhani, who are seriously considering signing the former Miss Sri Lanka for their future projects.

"Yes, Jacqueline indeed has great potential, something that I could make out the moment I saw a couple of songs that she has done in the film. Though our talks are currently in a very preliminary stage, I would love to work with her," Siddharth Anand of `Salaam Namaste` fame told reporters.

A source close to Anand said: "Siddharth`s movies have primarily been youth-centric with emphasis on fun, music and celebration. He himself is quite young and a similar exuberance is seen in the films he does. Even for his next project, he felt that Jacqueline would be the right fit since she is a young newcomer and brings with her a lot of promise."

And Anand has found a supporter in Sujoy Ghosh, who is launching Jacqueline with `Aladin`.

"Siddharth is a close friend and we bounce off story ideas to each other on a regular basis. We have also never shied away from showing each other the rushes of our films.

"In one such meeting, Siddharth happened to see some of Jacqueline`s portions from `Aladin` and was quite impressed with her exotic looks as well. He was even more impressed by her confidence considering `Aladin` is her debut film," Ghosh said.

Tarun Mansukhani, who made a splash with `Dostana`, is expected to start another light hearted entertainer soon. He too seems to be impressed with Jacqueline`s screen presence.

"For me, it`s not just the matter of Jacqueline showing immense confidence in her first ever movie, but the fact that she has very good screen presence and her look can be tweaked around being Indian or Western as per the demand of the situation. For me, that`s her biggest selling point," Mansukhani told IANS.

While the Sri Lankan beuaty is yet to get concrete offers, she is certainly making her presence felt in the film industry.

Jacqueline, who was crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006, has been academically inclined as well - apparent from her degree in Media and Communications from Sydney, Australia.

Ambitious to the core, she had once stated: "Being independent and accomplished was imperative to me and I always demanded the best of myself. Perfectionism is my strongest asset."

That`s something which is clear from her choice for her debut film "Aladin", which is a co-production of Eros and Ghosh`s Boundscript and stars none other than Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt along with Riteish Deshmukh.

"Well, the journey has just begun. Last one year was quite happening but now it is going to be even more exciting times with `Aladin` being round the corner," said Jacqueline.

She follows `Aladin` with Milap Zaveri`s directorial debut. She has also been approached by several brands for endorsements.

Here is one more instance of Rakhi Sawant’s crazy stunts. Karva Chauth — a festival that celebrates wedded bliss — is a few months away, but the item girl has already observed the fast for not one but five men in the run up to her swayamvar.

Rakhi, who surprised many when she decided to marry through NDTV Imagine’s reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, is busy selecting an ideal groom on the show. As part of that she observed a fast for five finalists to pray to god to help her make the right decision.

Not just that — even the contenders — Luv Khanna, Manas Katyal, Elesh Parujanwala, Chhitiz Jain and Manmohan Tiwari — decided to support her and observed the fast with Rakhi. If that wasn’t enough, each boy’s mother helped Rakhi and their sons in breaking the fast in a traditional way, a source close to the show told IANS.

Rain water filled up the lawns of Bachchan's home "Prateeksha" in Juhu and the ground floor of his office "Janak" located nearby as rains lashed the city and suburbs since Monday night and the downpour continued throughout the day yesterday.

The 66-year-old actor, who is recuperating from stomach pain, was constantly on the move from "Prateeksha" to his other bungalow "Jalsa" and the office helping his staff to shift his belongings from the ground floor to higher positions.

"Prateeksha is inundated. The road outside is in waist- deep water and the lawn, even though it is built on a rise, has been filled up and threatening to push the rain into the house. As I prepare to move furniture and stuff from the ground to higher positions, mini waves drift in from the road into the driveway and reach the first step into the house," Bachchan wrote on his blog.

"Water has entered into the reception area and the staff, bare footed pants rolled up, are frantically trying to clear drains of any obstruction so the water can flow out. But flow out where? On to the road which is waist-deep itself. It shall all come back!"

"Everywhere there is just chaos. It's a sea of water all over. Pass by the office Janak and the staff is getting ready to climb on to the tree by the gate! Water inside the premise and the ground floor is unworkable," Bachchan wrote on his blog.

"Jalsa is relatively dry. The road opposite now a swimming pool but the basement has a beach. A huge gaping hole has been punctured and buckets and water pumps are being put to use to avoid the electronic panels that are housed there from blowing up," he added.

"At Jalsa, the water in the bedrooms has leaked through despite the tarpaulin protection. I told my staff to fill up water in buckets from the rain outside and store it just in case the power goes and the pumps get disconnected," Bachchan wrote.

Big B did his bit by giving lifts to a few women in his car to help them escape the Mumbai rains that have jammed life in India's financial capital for the last three days.

"I muster up courage and help and pull out the SUV...that's the only one that shall go through in all this mess, and float out into the streets now jammed with people wading through and the cars blocking any movement.

"I open the door, well just about, to assist a few young ladies in distress who were beginning to lose their composure, and give them a ride towards Jalsa. Everywhere there is just chaos,” Amitabh posted in a recent entry on his blog

In his recent interview, he was the first to admit that he's more interested in clowning around rather than taking the throne. Still, he had some words for critics, saying "Well, critics to us are like how the tax man is to everyone. We all wish they didn't exist, but they do. Seems after a considerable gap, the pending song for Emraan Hashmi starrer 24x7 Raftaar, will finally be shot. But it remains to be seen if the actor will feature in it. Reportedly, the producers, Percept Picture Company has roped in the three finalists of IPL Miss Bollywood 2009, while Hashmi was keener on doing it with a known actress.

According to a source associated with the movie, “Initially, the song was to be shot at Maldives and Emraan’s dates were booked. But it was shifted to Bangkok due to financial issues. Then there was a disagreement over the girl. Percept wanted to take some new girl to save costs, while Emraan felt a known face would get better mileage.”

Disagreements?
Consequently, differences cropped up between Hashmi and Percept after they failed to sign a girl and utilise his dates for the song sequence. And if that wasn’t enough, they apparently even delayed his payment, resulting in his refusal to dole out more dates than committed.
However, now that the producers have signed the girls, Dune Kossatz, Genna Cloud and Dunay Nortje for the song, and are planning to shoot later next month, Hashmi is said to be non-committal. Although he admitted, “There was an issue earlier, so there was a delay,” he declined to go into the details, saying, “That’s best known to Percept. I was in touch with them for a couple of months, then I guess Shamim Desai, the director took over. He knows best when the songs will be shot.”Tell him about the production company’s plans of shooting in August, Hashmi says, “Right now, I’m shooting for Once Upon A Time In Mumbai.. It’s a marathon spell and since I’m sporting a particular look in it, I can’t shift to the Raftaar look suddenly in the middle. When I had given them the dates, they didn’t shoot. So now I’ll have to sort out the dates again, since I can’t jeopardise Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Although I won’t give second-hand treatment to Raftaar, I’ve to see that the other films don’t get messed up.”

Navin Shah, CEO, Percept Picture Company, too, brushed aside differences with Hashmi saying, “There weren’t any such problems really. 24 x 7 Raftaar is a glam film like Dhoom 2 and Race. Signing known faces for the songs would be too Bollywood and it’s already been done to death. By roping in IPL Miss Bollywood, we’re keeping the glam quotient intact.”

However, Shah is certain that Hashmi will allot the dates in the third week of August to wrap up the remaining three songs in a start-to-finish spell, despite his look for Once Upon A Time. “Agreed that Emraan is busy with his other films and is currently sporting a different look. It’s a creativity issue and we have to find a way around it.” Now, that will be confirmed by the end of August.

Many saw the act as a violation against Shetty’s modesty and a outrage to Indian culture. Shetty, the winner of “Celebrity Big Brother”, a reality Television show in the U.K., said that the protests made India look silly.

“I admit it went a little overboard but that was not the intention,” she said to a crowd of journalists and protesters that came to her film set in Mumbai a day after the spectacle.

“He (Gere) did not do anything obscene,” she said, adding that they had since spoken over the phone. “He apologized to me and told me to tell the media that he apologized.”

Gere began a campaign to unite Bollywood movie actors, government officials, and business leaders to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS in India. India currently has the world’s second largest number of HIV-infected people. The event was organized by different foundations including HIV/AIDS advocacy groups to help create awareness on unsafe sexual practices.

“No condom, no sex,” 58-year-old Gere shouted in Hindi. The crowd responded by yelling and whistling as Gere kissed Shetty’s hand. Gere then begain to kiss her cheeks repeatedly. An embarrassed Shetty pulled back and told Gere, “This is a bit too much.”

However, the Bollywood actress insists that Indians are over reacting. Shetty said, “I understand this is his culture, not ours. But this was not such a big thing or so obscene for people to over react in such a manner. I understand people’s sentiments, but I don’t want a foreigner to take bad memories from here.”

The scale of the business of Bollywood is not trivial. According to a Pricewaterhouse Coopers report, India’s film business earned $1.12 billion in 2004, up from $617 million in 2001. Much of this success is driven by global popularity. An average Indian movie’s budget is $500,000 (though the major titles can budget more than $10 million), far below the average $14 million spent in the US. Jab We Met Review

Much hyped Bollywood movie, Jab We Met has hit the screens today and got average response from the moviegoers. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Jab We Met has been released in 15 countries across the world. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor play the lead roles of the movie. However, the break of Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor could not make it bigger in the opening day though it was earlier thought of. Jab We Met has done well in the first day but it is not so satisfactory.

However, Jab We Met has done very well compared to the other releases of this week. Anurag Kashyap’s No Smoking has come to closer in teems of competition with Jab We Met. At the evening shows of Jab We Met got comparatively good response than the previous shows.

Regarding the first day response of Jab We Met, Ibosnetwork reported:

The opening day bookings for Jab We Met is hovering at around 30% on limited screenings. That means, it will have to depend on word of mouth to generate large collections. (update: The film's collections did show an upward tick by Friday evening with Saturday bookings at 60%). The duo's previous films included Fida, 36 China Town, and Chup Chup Ke.
John Abraham & Ayesha Takia starrer No Smoking doesn't seem set to smoke out the box office either. Its advance was lagging behind Jab We Met at around 20% on similarly low volume screenings.

Though the movie could not work well expectedly in the first day, Jab We Met got huge response from the moviegoers. In a whole, Bollywood fans liked the movie for its story as well as the performance of the two leading actors. No matter, even if the movie does not generate huge income for the producers and director Imtaiz Ali because almost everybody has raised their voice while praising Imtiaz Ali for his excellent performance. The music numbers also attracted the fans and were said to be well-suit with the story and environment.

In the first place, the movie based on a love story portraying two strangers in a journey to love has crossed the mind of the fans. Though it is said that the movie is a mixture of a number of Bollywood and Hollywood films, Jab We Met has something different in its story and in story telling. To sum up, JAB WE MET is as refreshing as an ice-cold watermelon juice in scorching heat. Imtiaz Ali's expert storytelling coupled with Shahid and Kareena's sparkling performances make this film a must-watch!

So, no doubt, Imtiaz Ali could successfully present the story to the fans with the right environment. 3) Both leads seem to have no friends since there never is a mention of even one. Really strange. Usually when in problems related to family everyone talks to their friends.

Anyway, Jab We Met is an excellent movie where the story is described in an impressive way with the help of right environment and impressive acting of the actors.
